Kentucky Dinner

I watched a movie where parents did a fun safari dinner in their living room and was inspired to pick one night a week where we do a themed dinner...Emma can help me prepare since she wants to cook and we'll learn about other cultures and places around the world in the process. Since she just completed a report on Kentucky, it was decided that our first attempt would be a "Kentucky Dinner". To a backdrop of bluegrass music, we ate a fried chicken dinner and Emma read us facts about the state. Did you know that Abraham Lincoln was born there and you can still see the log cabin where he was raised? It was really fun and she has requested that we do a Wyoming dinner next (her class is studying the 50 states right now so I think we'll be staying in the U.S. for awhile). Why Kentucky and Wyoming? Because they are big horse states of course!

Our little one-year-old is ready to walk, but hasn't started quite yet. Check out our "walker" chair below...

Emma and Bria

Emma had her Spring vacation from school last week and was able to have several friends over on different days. Mostly, the girls would keep busy playing in Emma's room or with Captain Jack. They are each sweet young ladies...what a blessing. Bria is a girl after my own heart...she got Emma back into her old princess dress-up gowns and accessories and got her dancing. After some heavy make-up application (Bria brought her own and was so sweet to come down and ask permission) they were soon scooting around the backyard in their finery. I was a little sentimental seeing Emma dressed up as a princess because I know those days are soon coming to an end. Then, it was time to dress in a more modern ensemble (see below) and dance to the Top 40 countdown we found on the T.V. Paula, did Bria learn those moves from you?:)
